Melania Trump has now openly called out late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, and she is not holding back. In a strongly worded post on X, the former First Lady accused Kimmel of crossing a line with his comedy and even urged ABC to stop backing him.
Melania Trump directly criticised Jimmy Kimmel, saying his words were not comedy but harmful messaging. She accused him of spreading what she called “hateful and violent rhetoric” that she believes is damaging American unity.

She wrote that Kimmel’s monologue about her family was “corrosive” and added that it contributes to what she described as a “political sickness” in the United States.
According to her, such content is not harmless entertainment but something that divides people further.
She also questioned ABC’s role in keeping him on air. Melania said Kimmel “hides behind ABC” and suggested the network continues to support him despite repeated controversies. In her post, she asked how many more times ABC would allow his behaviour, saying it was happening “at the expense of our community.”
Kimmel’s jokes about Melania and Trump family
Jimmy Kimmel, known for regularly mocking US President Donald Trump, has in recent months also been focusing more on Melania Trump in his monologues. His commentary intensified after the release of the Amazon documentary ‘Melania’ in January.
Kimmel criticised the documentary, calling it a “USD 75 million bribe” that he claimed Amazon made for her. He also mocked it as dull, saying it mostly showed everyday moments like fittings, car rides, and interviews with staff.
In another episode of ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’, he made a joke describing Melania as having “a glow like an expectant widow.” This remark later drew attention because of its timing.
WHCD security scare and ABC’s earlier action on Kimmel
The controversy also overlaps with a tense real-world incident. During the 2026 White House Correspondents’ Dinner, gunshots were heard outside the venue, forcing an early shutdown.
President Donald Trump, Melania Trump, and other officials were evacuated as security forces handled the situation and detained a suspect on another floor.
Following the incident, Trump told the media the event would be rescheduled within 30 days.
Separately, ABC had already taken action against Kimmel earlier in September 2025. They briefly pulled him off air after comments he made about the shooting death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
